Our Approach

We partnered with Vulcan across a number of standout titles, combining our cinematic storytelling instincts, scientific and engineering fluency, and on-the-ground production expertise to deliver films with scale, substance, and soul.

Working closely with Vulcan’s development and executive teams, we shaped story arcs, built access and contributor trust, and navigated complex, international shoots, whether documenting aviation engineers rebuilding Cold War aircraft, or following conservationists fighting to save a baby elephant’s life.

Our mandate: to deliver emotional clarity, visual scale, and global resonance, whether for film festivals, gallery installations, museum screenings, or immersive VR platforms.

The Results

  • The collaboration delivered a number of acclaimed, mission-driven projects, including:
    StormBird: a cinematic tribute to the rebirth of the Messerschmitt Me 262, the world’s first operational jet fighter,
    and the passion project of aviation engineers bringing a forgotten icon back to life. 

    •   Naledi: A Baby Elephant’s Tale: a deeply moving feature documentary following an orphaned elephant calf. The film premiered at Jackson Wild, screened at global festivals including Wildscreen and the Virginia Film Festival, and earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Nature Documentary.

     

    •   Immersive VR Experiences: part of Vulcan’s frontier-pushing innovation in new formats, developed with technical consultation and creative guidance from Bigger Bang.

     

    Seen by millions worldwide, the films helped advance Vulcan’s mission of using storytelling to inspire action. They’ve been screened globally, recognised by major festivals, and celebrated for their emotional intelligence and visual power, a testament to the strength of purposeful collaboration between two like-minded production houses.

The Challenge

Vulcan Productions, founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, was globally recognised for producing bold, high-impact documentaries and immersive storytelling experiences focused on the planet’s most pressing environmental and social challenges.

As they developed an ambitious slate spanning feature films, broadcast docs, VR experiences, and large-scale installations, Vulcan turned to a handful of trusted, world-class collaborators, including Bigger Bang, to help bring their vision to life.
